Our Surroundings
Whether you want to spend your holiday actively, or just want to unwind, whether you want to cook yourself or prefer to be cooked – at the Oberberghof you are exactly at the right place. Hiking routes, bicycle tours, bathing lakes and golf courses are just as close as restaurants, museums and cultural treasures.
Hiking
Do you enjoy hiking? Then you are in the right place in South Tyrol and at the Oberberghof. No matter what the requirements, for beginners or advanced, from our apartments you can reach in no time the Dolomites or you can directly start from our apartments to climb our local mountain, the Gantkofel.
Also more leisurely walks are possible right in the area, for example, the castle hiking in Missian or in the recreational forest of Montiggler. Please do not hesitate to ask us for suggestions and tips.

Biking
Are you coming by bike or e-bike? Excellent! The area is very popular for bike tours. You can start cycling tours directly directly from our holiday apartments. To the south you can explore the Überetsch with the municipality of Kaltern and the south of South Tyrol. In the north you reach the city of Merano.
If you prefer a higher level of difficulty, the mountains are always only a stone’s throw away. We like to go with our e-bikes as well so we can give you advice.
Bathing Lakes
The area in and around Eppan is home to the most popular bathing lakes in South Tyrol. In the municipality of Appiano there are the the two lakes of Montiggl. While the small Montiggler lake is a bit quieter, at the great lake there is also has a swimming pool with the longest waterslide of South Tyrol.
The lake of Caldaro is located in the neighboring municipality and is only a few kilometers away. It is the warmest bathing lake in the Alps and also popular among wind and kite surfers.
For those who prefer something more idyllic, we recommend small mountain lakes such as the Völser Weiher at the foot of the mountain Schlern, or the Wolfsgrubener See in Ritten.

Golf
In the municipality of Eppan and around Bozen there are some golf courses: a few meters from the Oberberghof the Golf Club Freudenstein, in the municipality Eppan the Golf Club Eppan and in the direction of Merano the Golf Club Lana.
If you prefer to golf in the mountains, you can reach the Golf Club Petersberg in about 40 minutes and the Golf Club Carezza in the Dolomites. There are also golf courses in the Passeiertal, in Seis and in Alta Badia.
Skiing
The municipality of Appiano is located in the valley and is known due to the Mediterranean climate as a wine region, nevertheless, you can reach a variety of ski resorts in about 30-45 minutes. You are spoiled for choice:
For example, in as little as half an hour you can reach the ski resorts of Obereggen, Carezza, Merano 2000 and in the Sarntal valley, the skiing area of Reinswald. Smaller ski resorts are Jochgrimm between the Weißhorn and Schwarzhorn and Schwemmalm in the Ultental valley. The Dolomiti Superski ski area in the Dolomites can also be reached within 45 minutes.

Restaurants & Bars
Of course you can cook in our apartments. If you want to spoil yourself, you will find many restaurants and pizzerias in the immediate area in St. Pauls or St. Michael. Those can be reached on foot in a few minutes or by car.
Bars for a refreshing Hugo or Aperol Spritz are also available. If you just want to enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace, let us know so. Tell us what you prefer and we are happy to recommend something.
Museums & Culture
Would you like to explore the cultural treasures of South Tyrol? A visit at the Ötzi Museum, the world-famous mummy from the ice, surely comes first. He is exhibited in the archeology museum in the capital of the province Bolzano. For sure you know that Ötzi has many tattoos. But did you know that Brad Pitt has a tattoo of Ötzi?
The extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner has set up the Messner Mountain Museum at Schloss Sigmundskron in Frangart, just a few kilometers from our holiday apartments.
In addition, the provincial capital of Bolzano and the spa town of Merano is always worth a visit.
